Flower Petals Frame - In Memory of my baby

So, a little over 4 years ago, I lost my little girl. She passed while still in my womb. She was my last one. I never saw her, just a picture, but we named her Olivia. In her memory, I had made a frame for the only picture I had of her.

I took a regular frame and covered it with yellow petals. I used yellow because I always heard that yellow represents "I'm Sorry". Well, I am so sorry that she didn't make it. I don't know if it's something I did or didn't do (since the doctor's never did say), but it's my way of saying I'm sorry. Anyway, I trimmed the inside part of the frame (to hide the petal edges) with a black ribbon and added black ribbon on three corners. On the one corner I placed a full flower bloom and put her name in a bottlecap in the middle of the flower.

Tah-dah! Here's where the picture sits, next to the ashes of my baby.

"Wish I could have met you Olivia. One day I'll see you and get to hold you.. I Love You! ~ Mommy"

Eggshell Pendant - Faux Stained Glass

I recently saw a post on Happybird's blog with a tutorial on how to create a necklace pendant using eggshells to make it look like mosaic or stained glass. She used alcohol inks, which I didn't have, so I just used plain ol' acrylic paint and I think they turned out pretty good.

My little man helped me make some of them - painting the pieces black, applying the eggshell, and painting it too. I applied the Glossy Accents and the bail. Here's the one he painted...

And here I am wearing his beautiful creation!

Diaper Cake - Last Minute

Today, my MIL calls me and asks me if I could make a diaper cake for her sister and that she needs it by Tuesday. Wow! As if I don't have anything else to do but roll diapers all day. LOL! It's family so how could I say no. Her sister bought the supplies, dropped it off, and here is what I made from what she gave me.

Personally, I think it's really plain. It doesn't have enough "umphh" to me but this is what she gave me to work with. I don't have time to run out and get more things to decorate it as I have some studying to do for my class. Yes... I'm taking night courses now to get my state certification to teach preschool again. I'm so excited! I've missed teaching preschoolers.

Anyway, back to the diaper cake... As I said, I think it's plain. I would have loved to add some ruffles or even tule around each layer, maybe have ribbons streaming out the sides more. Oh well. It didn't really take me too long to make this. Makes me think that maybe I could offer this kind of service where people just buy the items and I'll put it all together for them for a small fee. This way they have some control of the type of diapers used and the ribbon colors and toys they want to give. It's a thought I might just follow on. Will let you know. In the meantime, here's another diaper cake that I created previously. I love this one!

Raven's Flameless Candle

What a game! It's too bad we didn't make it to the SuperBowl but that's ok. Next year!

Here's a Raven's flameless candle that I created using Dollar Store flameless candle, tissue paper, Raven's graphic, modge podge, black ribbon, and my printer.

All I did was create a graphic design on my computer, printed it on white tissue paper, cut it out, pasted it on with modge podge and allowed it to dry. Then decorated (actually hid uneven cuts) with a black ribbon. Tah-dah! Here it is lit at night.

Not too bad, right? I'm actually a fan of this. It does have some wrinkles because ... my is that modge podge super tacky! The second I put the tissue print on it, it was stuck. Oh well. I still like it.

Dr. Who - "Bowties Are Cool" Shirt

My oldest son and I are HUGE fans of Dr. Who. I have a few projects in mind to make with Dr. Who but my son beat me to it with his design of a Dr. Who 11th Doctor Logo with a bowtie. Why? Because ... "Bowties are Cool."

Isn't it just adorable? My son is an amazing artist and is currently studying graphic design in college. He designed the whole shirt himself using (I think) Illustrator and Photoshop. For Christmas, I gave him a screenprinting kit and finally he used it.

This was his test shirt. What do you think? Personally, I love it and I want one also.

Recycled Logo Wall Art

I used to be a representative for Lemongrass Spa but due to my lack of effort to push to have spa parties, I couldn't keep up with the quarterly monetary requirements. So I had to say goodbye even though I loved their products. Now I am just a customer.

Anyway, to show them my thanks and appreciation, I took their logo and created a wall art using a cereal box and their old catalogs.

I drew and cut out their logo from a large size cereal box - the ones from like Costco and Sam's Club since those boxes are sturdier. Then I painted it green to give it a base color. I then took their catalog and punched flower shapes in 2 different sizes. Meticulously, I curled each flower petal then glued down each flower shape onto the painted cardboard logo and put a small hanger on the back so it can be hung.

An easy project, just time consuming but very rewarding. I hope they like it.

Snowman Socks - All Dressed Up

Calendar Craft - I won't sell again!

I enjoyed making the desktop calendars and a lot of it did sell but not enough - which is crazy since I was only selling them for $3.00 each. I sold them cheap because I wanted them to move but even at that cheap they all didn't sell. I had a lot leftover so they became teacher and family presents.

These were larger sized calendars which I placed on blank coasters

and had them held up by large binder clips.

These were mini calendars which I attached to a

mini acrylic photo frame turned upside down.

I sold most of the calendars that were attached to the coasters, but the ones on the acrylic frames I probably only sold half of it. It was my first (and last) year trying these out. I've seen them around on the net before and fell in love with them. I finally decided to make them but now realize these are only good for gift giving (in my area). I can't really sell these at spring craft shows. Too bad because I think they are really cute.

New Year - New Resolution

Happy New Year! I can't believe it is now 2012. Where did the time go? My last post was back in September because I was slammed with one craft show after another. I had a couple of shows that were a bust and others that were fantastic. Here's a few pictures of my craft show set-up.

Hope you liked my set up. I'm still working out some kinks as to my display. I want something quick, easy, portable, and catchy. This is one seemed to work out but to me didn't look too professional. It looked more kiddish and so I'm thinking people won't take my work seriously and expect cheapy stuff - which a lot of my items were. I want to change that. Still brainstorming. It doesn't help that I don't have a big car so I'm limited.

Anyway, besides getting healthier, one of my other resolutions for this new year is to post more often. So until next time...

Yup...it's been a while but that doesn't mean I haven't been crafting. Here's something that I made for my lil' man's teachers as a thank you for all they have done.

This way they will easily find their pen and if someone tries to take it, they will see. Plus what a nice way to remind them how special they are, not to mention how pretty it looks sitting in a small vase on the desk.

Snow Cone Card Design

A fellow member from one of my groups did a shout out for help because her daughter, who started her own snow cone business, wanted and needed a business card and/or sign holder. I love playing with graphics so gave it a go and came up with this. I just did the background so her daughter can customize it any way she likes. What do you think?

Her daughter loved it and she will be using it for her business. I'm so happy I helped and that she liked my work.

BTW... Sorry I had to put my name across the bottom. I just didn't want anyone taking it and using it for themselves when someone is using it for their business already. I did try keep my name soft so you can see the whole graphic. What she received, of course, did not contain my name across the snow cones.

Easter Cake Basket

This is an Easter Cake Basket that I made for our family Easter gathering.

I got the idea from here but I added a basket handle with a flower accent to make it look more like a basket. The handle is made from a cereal box that I wrapped with pink streamers. The icing was just spread smoothly across and sideways on the cake then I "scratched" patterns across the sides using a fork to mimick a woven basket.

Below is the middle of the basket cake where I added green grass (green colored icing), a few peeps and hershey eggs.

The inside of my cake has 2 layers and was colored by taking the white cake mix, separating it into several bowls and adding different food coloring to each mix. Then pour a little of each color slowly into the pan, even layering it on top of each other. I got the recipe idea from here.

And here's the result...

It was yummy!!!

My lil' man was responsible for bringing in peeps for his class. Easy enough, right? Well, we couldn't just give them just a box - how boring! So we repackaged them and put a cute bag topper. Doesn't that look so much cuter? Here's a close up of the bag topper....

Easter Candy Necklace

Happy Easter everyone! I hope all of you had a great day.

My lil' man and I created candy necklaces to give out to his classmates as Easter presents. It was so easy to create.

HOW TO: All you need is candy, cling wrap, and curling ribbon. Just pull a long piece of cling wrap across your table, place candies on the wrap leaving space in between so you can tie it off there, fold over the cling wrap, cut curling ribbon in various lengths and tie it in between the candies. Once secure, take each end of the cling wrap, bring it together and tie a knot. And there you have a candy necklace.

Beaded Flower Hair Pin

These are a few beaded flower hair pins that I created for my daughter to decorate her hair for her Junior Prom.

I entered them into another hair jewelry competition and, although, I didn't get first place, I did get 2nd place. So not bad, right? Regardless, I think they looked wonderful in her hair!

Bottlecap Hairbows

My daughter has a birthday party to go to for the 1 year old niece of her boyfriend and she asked me to make up a gift for the little girl. Since I am into bottlecaps right now, I thought to make something for her that incorporated the caps. Well, necklace is out - too young. Bookmark - well, she's not into reading alone yet and bookmarking pages. So the next best thing... hairbows! Hairbows with bottlecaps. Woo-hoo! But I couldn't use the regular bottlecaps because they may be sharp for her if she reaches up on her head, so I used the flattened bottlecaps and I think they look adorable!!!

Of course, I created the image on the caps (so much fun), created the bows, and put them all together. The pink ribbon was really ugly by itself so I added a sheer ribbon on top and I think it made it look more classy. The purple ribbon was also ugly by itself so I added some lace to the edges to give it more "umpfff".

I'm really liking the pink one. The purple I'm not sure how I feel because it's kinda cute but kinda big. I don't know. What do you think?

Bottlecap Bookmark

I wanted to try something different, since I now know how to do the necklace. So I attached the bottlecap onto a large paperclip and TA-DAH... a bookmark.

I again took my friend's daughter's school logo and embellished a bit. I'm so loving designing the images for these bottlecaps! The back of the bottlecap was kind of ugly alone so I covered it with a round pink foam to make it look more polished.

Bottlecap Necklace - I've been bitten by the bug

Somehow or another, I have been bitten by the bottlecap bug. I just think they are so cute. I know they have been around for a while and I'm probably a bit late jumping on the craze but better late than never.

I made the necklace for a daughter of an awesome friend. Actually, I consider her daughter like my daughter too. So I couldn't resist making my very first design just for her. I took one of her school logos, edited and touched it up a bit, printed it out, padhered it to the bottlecap, applied the resin, punched the hole, inserted the jump ring, and attached it to the necklace. Done!

It was fun making them... even more fun designing the images. I can't wait to do more and share it with you.

Vote 4 my Coca Cola Bling Necklace

So here I go again. I entered another contest. This time a jewelry contest. Why? Well, why not? It's fun.

This is my Coca Cola "Bling" Necklace. It's cut out using a sizzix, glued to a heavy cardboard in order to keep it's shape so it won't crumple so easily, sealed the top with a glaze to prevent scratches, and added a star to give it more bling. What do you think?

Oh No! - I WON!

Yes... you read it right. I said Oh no! Not because it's a bad thing to win but it's what the contest was about.

You see, there was this cute little contest over at Cafe Mom's Craft Corner Group where the person who listed the most craft supply items in their craft room would win. Well, apparently, I had the most listed and so won. So yay that I won but then what an eye opener. I do have A LOT of craft supplies... but I love them all. I guess you can say I'm a craft supply collector. It's just that ... I like to keep lots of different supplies on hand because I just never know when I'll need them. Good excuse, right? LOL! But here's the funny thing, no matter how much craft stuff I have, I just seem to never have enough because somehow I still manage to run out to purchase more things. Yikes!

Recycled Flower Wall Art - REVAMPED!

So I've had my Recycled Flower Wall Art hanging on my wall for some time now and everytime I looked at it, it just looked like it was missing something. So off the wall it went and back into my craft room. Did some thinking and came up with this...

Here's the before. So plain looking, right?

As you can see, I painted the outer chain and part of the inner chain, as well as the flower bloom in the middle. I also added some butterflies - which I punched out from the cover of the college catalog.

I've entered this at the Spotted Canary March Green Contest. Keep your fingers crossed.

Wet Shoe Stone Tray

I have a very small foyer that is covered in ceramic tile. But 2 steps in, you're on wood floors. Well when it's raining, water gets tracked onto the wood floor from wet shoes laying on the foor and I'm afraid my floor is going to get ruined. April is around the corner and you know that means April Showers!

So I created a Wet Shoe Stone Tray to hold all their wet shoes. The tray will catch and hold the water and dry the shoes. I even personalized the stone with our family name.

This is a dollar store project because most of the material I purchased from the Dollar Store. I bought a boot tray and 5 bags of large rocks. I cut out letters using my Sizzix and Modge Podge'd that onto 7 of the largest rocks I could find. Once dry, I applied the lettered rocks in the middle of the tray and then from there added the rest of the rocks.

Now let me tell you that it took me some time to find just the right glue to hold the rocks to the plastic. But after several trials, I found one that worked - easily and non-toxically! It's called Liquid Fusion. I am in love with that glue. It's a bit pricey - I bought it at Michael's. But if you have a 40% coupon, then you've got a great deal. I didn't have to clamp the stone down or wait a few minutes before adhering. I just applied the glue and plopped it on the plastic. 2 hours later it was stuck...and best of all there was no cancer causing smell. Love it! Now let's see what else I can glue with Liquid Fusion.

Recycled Flower Wall Art from a college catalog

This is what I have been working on for the past week. It's a large flower wall hanging made from a college catalog using the candy wrapper linking style. I had 5 of the catalogs and didn't want to just throw them away. I was inspired by Michele at MicheleMadeMe.

I started with this catalog...

Here's the inside...

After hours of folding, cutting, and linking...

Then I started gluing them around a round cardboard. Yes... it's the same round cardboard that I used for the Valentine's Heart Project. It's the famous Aldi's pizza board.

I kept winding and gluing but as the circle got smaller, I had to manipulate the links more. By the time it was really a small circle opening, I either took links apart or folded them over to try and make them fit.

Once it was all wrapped around, here's the result...

I covered the back with felt this time for a more finished look and put a little hook on the back so it can hang.

A recycled project all around.

I received my prize n it's awesome!

Sorry I've been MIA but I've had some sick children to tend to but not to worry, I was still trying to work on some crafty projects.

Anyway, my first prize finally came in the mail. Woo-hoo! I am so happy!! It's absolutely beautiful and it's green - perfect for St. Patty's Day. Here's a closer look at the bracelet...

Perler Bead Crafts with Lil' Man

So today I busted out my perler beads collection. I was cleaning yesterday and found them stashed in the back in my craft room. So today, lil' man and I play.

Here's what we made...

If you have never played with perler beads, they are so much fun. They are plastic beads that you put on a peg board and create all sorts of designs. Once you're done designing, you cover it with baking paper and iron it for a few seconds. Just enough for the beads to melt into each other. And that's it!

Today I wanted to try and make some St. Patty decorations using the beads but lil' man had other design ideas.

He just wanted to make color patterns.

Deciding if he likes what he made.

He does and keeps going. Looking good!!!

Now I wanted to get into the bead designing action. I had 2 types of perler beads. The typical small ones that are sold in stores, and the biggie size - great for smaller hands who are still mastering their motor skills. Lil' man used the biggie size.

Here's the regular size - which I used.

Here's my attempt at designing a perler bead

shamrock.

I had to make the 3rd leaf separate because of the

pegs. It just looked funky so I'll fuse them

in 3 steps. Iron the bottom, iron the top leaf,

then iron them together.

And here's what I have.

Not the best shamrock but it was fun.

Lil' man wanted to give the regular beads a try and

these are what he created. The snake was made on

a square peg board. The heart was done on a

heart board that he filled-in.

Valentine Candy Bouquets - presents for my family

Well I hope everyone had a loving and fun Valentine's Day. I have wanted to post these up for a while but was scared my kids or my hubby would see it and then my surprise would be ruined. Well, now that Valentine's is past, I can finally show you what I created for my family's Valentine gifts...

This is a close-up of my candy bouquet I

made for each one of my kids. Inside the

wrappers are mini hershey, crunch, kit-kat,

reeses, snickers, & 3 muskateers bars.

The outside is surrounded by mini-mini

hershey and cookies n cream hershey bars.

Here's for 2 of the kids - sorry can't see the pink one

too well. I need a new camera.

Here's for my dear, sweet hubby. I gave

him Ghirardelli Dark Chocolate. Each

chocolate bar states a reason as to what

I love about him.

Here's what they saw when they came into the kitchen.

Just had to show off my thrift store creation.

I found a glass/vase and wine glass while

visiting one of the local thrift shops.

I turned the wine glass upside down and

glued the glass/vase on top. And wah-lah!

Here's another. I was lucky to find a set.

There actually was a third glass/vase that

was taller but the glass is so thin that when

I got home it was broken. Bummed me out.

Oh well. I still had the 2.

Recycled Pizza Board to Valentine Heart Wall Hanging

This is a Valentine Home Decor Project that me and my little man created together and it is RECYCLED! I love to try and recycle items so I'm pretty proud of this one.

First you must understand that my family loves pizza from Aldi's. It is frozen pizza but we have a pizza maker/heater that cooks it perfectly and it is so yummy. Anyway, the pizza's are packaged up with a round cardboard to support it. When you open up the pizza, of course, you're supposed to throw the round cardboard away. Well, I just couldn't and have thought of several ideas I could do with them. Pictured above is my first idea.

So here's the cardboard backing of the pizza.

I folded it in half.

I drew a half heart shape while folded

(took me a couple of tries to get the heart bump

that I like as you can see).

Cut out the heart shape. This will be your template

since you won't want a partially folded board.

Do you notice how I am holding the scissors?

That's because my thumb is still injured

and I can't grasp anything without feeling

a lot of pain. So while I wait for it to heal,

this is how I have resorted to cutting.

Trace the heart template to another board and cut out.

I traced it on several because

I was planning on trying several different designs.

I then took a piece of paper, fold it in half,

drew a smaller heart shape, and cut it out.

I took the paper template and lined it up on the

inside of the cardboard. I just eyeballed it.

I then traced it onto the cardboard. You can sort of see

a faint heart line in the middle of my board.

Now the fun part... I used pink paper streamer and

cut squares from them. You'll also need a

pencil with a flat eraser top.

I took a streamer square and placed the

pencil top in the middle.

I then pulled the sides of the paper up to cover

the pencil. I remember doing this back in

elementary school to decorate pinatas.

So here's my lil' man preparing to put his

cutting skill to work.

And here he is cutting the squares out.

We cut out a lot.

Almost used the whole streamer roll.

Lil' man's turn to wrap the squares around the pencil.

I've applied tacky glueon the outer part of the heart.

I have other plans for the inside heart.

He's gluing it down.

Look at the concentration on his face.

Here's some of the squares already glued on the cardboard.

Looks like flowers he said.

And here's more of the squares glued on.

Looks fluffy and really didn't take too long.

TA-DAH! The whole outer heart is complete.

Now comes mommy's turn.

Using red streamer paper, I rolled and pinched lenghts

of streamer paper to create these flowers. This time I made

sure I had the same length for each flower so they would be

about the same size but crazily, they still turned out

having different sizes. All depends on how I rolled them.

Here I have started gluing the flowers in

to fill up the inside heart.

All done! Now how to hang it?

Visited the dollar store and found a really pretty

Valentine ribbon for (of course) $1.00.

I made a bow with long tails, glued the tails onto the back,

and it's ready to be hung. Now, I could cover the back

with felt or any fabric but personally I like having the

logo stuff on the back so when I tell people

it's recycled and what it's from,

I can also show them. Proof...it's recycled!

Streamer Paper Flower Ball

This is my flower ball made from crepe streamer paper that I bought from the Dollar Store.

Now is that even the correct name - flower ball?

Anyhoo-- Pink streamer, styrofoamball, glue, and time is what you need to accomplish this flower ball.

I say time because it took me a while to roll up the paper into flowers - possibly because my thumb

is still in pain so I was using other fingers that aren't used to such usage. But it didn't stop me.

Slowed me down maybe, but not stopped.

Normal people would measure out a length of streamer, cut it and roll it up.

Not me, I started rolling it while it was still on it's large roll

I folded it half and then rolled it and pinched it together until I got the desired

fluffiness of a flower that I liked. Then I would cut it off.

Before gluing it to the styrofoam ball, I cut off the "stem" part so the flowers laid flatter on the ball.

Then I started gluing it onto the styrofoam ball.

Here's the completed ball. Note that the streamer is pink but looks peachy due to no flash.

The picture below looks more like the actual color but you can't see the detail as well.

I'm gonna have to save for a better camera and photo lighting kit.

Heart Garland Intertwined

Feeling a little better but I wish my hand was. I am still in a lot of pain. I really miss the use of my right thumb. Life is a little bit more difficult without being able to use it. Harder to type, can barely write, difficult to wash dishes, can't open a jar, can't grip my toothpaste...yaa dahh, yaa dahh, yaa dahh. Worst of all though, I can't grip my glue gun! Errrrr!!! But I'm learning slowly with my left hand.

Anyway, I found another cute Valentine's decoration featuring heart garlands that are connected to each other. So cute and (again) easy and cheap.

Aren't they cute? Another simple, cheap, and fun project to decorate the house and windows. Lil' man will definitely love this. Can't wait until I'm better so we can try these out.

Faux Stained Glass Hearts

I'm a little under the weather so I've been just surfing the web looking for some new and different ideas when I found this....

Aren't those the cutest? Can you believe it's made from yarn, glue, and a little bit of watercolor paint? As soon as I'm up for it, I'm definitely trying this. Great thing is that this is easy enough that my lil'man can do this with me.

Washcloth Purse - Fall theme

These are a few my washcoth purses that I create for a fall craft fair. Most of them have been sold except for one. Luckily, I snapped some pictures of some of my creations before selling them. I wish I took a picture of my Christmas themed ones - they were cute. Guess I'll just have to make more...and this time I WILL remember to take pictures before selling them.

Paper Hearts into flowers, butterflies, and hangers

For the past couple of days my lil' man and I have been slowly working on creating some decorations for our front window. At first I had an elaborate idea on how to decorate it but my 5 year old had his own idea...and his ideas won.

To make things easier for him, I cut up strips of red, pink, and white construction paper and had him roll it up and glue it end to end.

Once together, we pinched one end then pushed the opposite end halfway in to form a heart.

From there he did all the designing. First is his butterfly. He designed, we glued and punched holes...

Now a flower....

And his heart hanger...

After he created his designs, we punched holes and strung them together.

Ta-dah!!

All ready to be hung...

And here they are hanging in our window.

Hang lost socks here!

As I was visiting other blogs, I came across Crafts by Amanda's latest post on her blog about organizing odd socks. I then remembered that down in my basement, on the wall, I had my lost socks sign hanger which I had created several years back. So I ran down, removed the old nasty looking socks off the clips, took a picture (camera was cooperating), and am now sharing with you.

I don't remember where I got the pattern to make this so if anyone knows, please tell me so I can give them credit.

Purple Friday - Raven's Flower Pin/Hairclip

It's Purple Friday here in Baltimore as we all show our support to our home football team, the Baltimore Ravens. They are going up against the Steelers this weekend. Woo-hoo!!

To show my support, I created a couple of purple flowers that can be used as a pin/broach or a hairclip. Great to use if you work in a professional setting that doesn't allow dress down days.

After I took this picture, my camera started acting up. I'll try and take some close-ups with another camera and post it up later.

My Baby Girl is 17!!

I can't believe my baby girl is now 17. Not a baby anymore. Sniff..sniff. I miss the days when she would run to me with her pigtails, jump in my arms and give me the biggest hug with the biggest smile as I lift her into the air. Little did I know that those were some of the best days of my life. Times are different now. She's all grown up and doesn't need me as much. The jumping into the arms now belongs to her boyfriend. But hey... I still get hugs and I love you and I have a new best friend. But still, I miss having my little girl.

Anyhoo... we surprised her by decorating the house and hanging (what I like to call) money flowers from the ceilings. It was fun decorating and I think she enjoyed it. Although I believe her boyfriend enjoyed our decoration more. Just check out the pix.

Here's the money flower that I made and strung across the ceiling in our kitchen.

And this is our stairway to go upstairs to the rooms. My oldest son, who was upstairs at the time we decorated the stairway, had to stay upstairs until my daughter came home because there was no way he could make it down the stairs without the possibility of ripping down the decor.

Angels from Ribbons

Ever since I discovered how to make these Angels from Ribbons, I have been hooked! They are so easy to make and so beautiful when completed. I got all of my supplies from the dollar store. 1 ribbon roll makes 3 angels....so it's pretty cheap too. Besides Christmas ornaments, they make really pretty package toppers.

These are my Raven's Ribbon Angels. I like them but I think my gold flower is a little overpowering. I'm going to have to try something different.

Go Ravens ... Go Steelers ... Floral Bouquet

These are my floral bouquets made to support my football team, the Baltimore Ravens. With their upcoming game against the Pittsburgh Steelers in the play-offs, I thought it would be appropriate to show off the bouquets I created.

OK. OK. Ravens fans, don't get upset. I did create one for the Steeler's Fan as well. Don't worry...it's not in my home. A Steeler's fan bought it at a craft show last year. But hey! You have to admit that it is cute though.

Snowmen from Gloves - Family Frame

Yes! I know...it's been almost a year since I posted. I was busy trying several other ventures which just made me too busy to concentrate on the things I love most. Lesson learned and now I'm back.

I was all set with projects to do this new year but unfortunately I injured my right thumb from (get this) playing the Wii. Apparently I was pushing down too hard for a long period over the course of several days that I strained my thumb, wrist, and forearm muscles. Darn that Kirby Epic Yarn Game. It was so much fun but now I'm paying the price. I never realized how much easier life was with my thumb. I can't wait until I get better.

Since I can't post new projects I planned on, I will present to you daily projects I did last year, which I haven't posted. First up is my Snowmen Family made from knitted gloves.

This is one that I made for my family.

And here's the close-up. My oldest said they look more like penguins than snowmen.
Hey! It was my first attempt. I still like it.

My second attempt.
This one was actually an order that I received during a craft show. This is the original piece before my customer decided to change the mom snowman's hair bow to a different color.
She went with purple and was pleased. I meant to take a picture
before giving it to her but I forgot. Sorry.

Here's one I did for my brother's family. My third attempt and looking better.
Now they do look like snowmen.

Crafts - Star Picture Ornament

I've seen ornaments like these done on the web using different types of papers but I thought to myself...wouldn't it be nice if it was a picture instead of just paper. So I gave it a try on my computer and here is the result.

I took a picture of my ever so cute nephew and cropped it into a diamond shape. Copied that six times and arranged them around each other. Then I printed them off as a whole in four different sizes (staggering). Cut them up and glued it to black cardstock. Cut again and stacked them on top of each other, but I placed pop dots in between the layers to give it more dimension.

Here's the result...

Not too bad, right?

Oh...I forgot. I did punch a little hole at the tip of one of the big stars and put a fishing wire through it so they can hang it up.

Candy Crafts - Redskins Candy Sundae

My cousin is a big time Redskins fan and for his birthday, they had a Redskin's theme party. So, to keep with his theme, I created this Redskins Candy Sundae just for him.

I designed a Redskins candy wrapper for the smarties and tootsie roll candies, printed, cut and wrapped them around smarties and tootsie rolls, then filled & arranged them in a sundae glass, and added some ribbon.

Easy peasy and he loved it.

Wow. Talk about MIA, right? Well, I'm sure all of you understand how life just happens to take over sometimes.

But I'm back and ready to share with some crafts I have worked on.

First up - Flower Hair Clip in a Recycled Soda Bottle Gift Box

Here's a close-up of my flower. I added yellow beads in the middle and highlighted parts of the flower with a silvery white paint.

Now...Here's the flower hair clip, I wrapped some chocolates in pink paper, cut up large soda bottle, filled it with some crimped paper and put everything inside the soda bottle box.

Fold each soda bottle petal on top of the other and you've sealed it like a box. Notice though, that I did have to glue pink paper (matches the candy) on one flap of the soda bottle because I just could not for the life of me remove the label that was stuck on the bottle. So I covered it. And here's the end result.

Tah Dah! It was my first try at the soda bottle gift box and I think it turned out ok. Going to experiment more.

Yo-yo Cancer Angel Pin

This is a Yo-yo angel that I made for my Sister-in Law who was recently diagnosed with Uterine and Lung Cancer. She is only 37 years old and has never smoked, doesn't drink, and is still pure. She is so caring, always giving up her time to take care of others that are in need. Why something like this has happened to her, no one knows. But now it's our turn to show her our help and support. That's why I made these yo-yo angels.

Pearl represents Lung Cancer and the Peach color represents Uterine Cancer. I made my little angel with a sheer peach fabric as the body and a shiny white satin fabric for the wings. I then added a sheer ribbon and attached a pearl in the middle. I've attached the "Tammy's Angel" (as I call her) to a card with a cancer saying on it which I received from the great crafters and poets at craftsayings forum. I just changed a bunch of the wordings to make it more personalized for me.

I've passed this out to most of the family members. I am creating more in hopes of selling them as a fundraiser for my Sister-in-Law. The chemo she is going through has made it unable for her to work, although she still tries to go to work even if she is in pain because money is hard. We're looking to sell these for $5.00 each in order to help her out.
